James E. Willis, III first worked with badges as an Educational Assessment Specialist at Purdue University where he assessed educational technology. He then worked with Dan Hickey on a MacArthur Foundation grant at Indiana University in the School of Education. While on this grant, James helped schools and organizations build high-quality, evidence-rich open digital badges. Currently, James works as an independent scholar and professor, data content curator for IData, Inc., and consultant for badges integration. He holds a BA from Roanoke College, MLitt from the University of St. Andrews (Scotland), and PhD from King's College London (England).
